We partner with local businesses to offer a selection of unique instructional and educational classes for your children. while these classes are on a recurring schedule, usually over a 3 month period, you do not need to sign up for a series of classes. Each class individually stands on its own, and you can attend one week, skip a week or more, and then attend again. All classes must be rsvp'd for and prepaid. If you have ideas for classes that you would like to see offered, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
Menlo Swim Water Babies for children 6 months to 2.5 years is a Parent participation class where babies are introduced to the water through songs and games. When parents are ready, children will be submerged and eventually will learn to swim. Each game that we play together as a group can be adjusted to accommodate a parent's comfort level and the swimming ability of the child. Classes are on hiatus right now (April), but will start up again in June.
Water Tots for 2-3 year olds is for older children who must be comfortable in the water without mom or dad. Children will be introduced to the water using toys; they will learn to relax while submerged and swim a short distance while holding their breath. The “fast button” will be introduced and the arms will be stretched forward in order to maximize efficiency. Back floats will also be introduced.
Techniques like the "fast button" are important at this level where a child needs a fun visual to achieve a body position. The "fast button" is an imaginary spot on the sternum that, if pressed with the chin, makes you swim really fast (keeps the head down).
Children will learn to relax while submerged and swim a short distance. Water Tots is offered at the same time as Water Babies every Wednesday at 9:30am so that you can have both your children in class at the same time.

Music for Families: This class is targeted for children aged 0-5 yrs. As a family in one of our classes, you and your child will have the opportunity to play musically each week under the guidance of one of our early childhood music specialists. During class, you will sing and move to songs and rhythmic rhymes in a variety of meters and tonalities by participating in activities that include small and large movement, instrument play-alongs and community singing. These fun activities are presented as informal, non-performance-oriented musical experiences that are developmentally appropriate for children and easy for parents and caregivers to participate in, regardless of their own musical ability!
MyGym: Little Bundles Your little one (6 weeks - 7 months) will begin their first visual, audial and spatial exploration as you guide them through a program designed to carefully introduce music and movement in a variety of fun ways. Baby exercises, songs, dances, infant-safe rides, unique swings, and many other Parent & Me adventures await the infant-parent team. This fun and movement class also includes a brief parent discussion element. Each week you participate in a dialogue about your child's development and leave with informative handouts.
